The Original Dog House Inc. is privileged to introduce our new on-call portrait artist Ms. Maria Wong.
About the Artist
Maria started painting at a very young age, she originally learnt the skill of Chinese painting at the age of seven from some of the famous Oriental masters.
As she grew older, Maria enjoyed painting still life, landscapes and portraits of famous people (i.e. Elvis Presley, Brigitte Bardot, Pierre Elliot Trudeau, JFK, to name a few). As time passed, she also began to gain recognition at several levels of day to day life.
When Maria immigrated to Canada, she modified her oriental style to incorporate the western flare of her new home. This helped her develop and perfect her present special style and technique.
In the year 2000, Maria produced her very first pet portrait for a good friend who had just lost his German Shepherd Dog. The accolades she received for this painting were so overwhelming that it sparked a very strong feeling and drive in Maria to pursue the painting of animals.
This was the turning point for Maria, because from that point onward she became infatuated and captivated by the wonderful world, spirit and grace of the animals around her and particularly the different breeds of dogs and cats.
Since that time, Maria has for the most part concentrated on painting pet portraits, however she is also extremely talented in combining both the pets and their owners in her works.
Maria has also exhibited her works at many art shows and has developed a strong following within the art world.
Note: Maria is able to work from photographs and is able to combine several photos into one portrait.
Maria will be pleased to immortalize your pets by offering her work in two mediums (your choice) either in pencil (black & white) or watercolours.
